Release of Ken Wasil's Latest Book: African Safari Bootcamp for Women

Ken Wasil, author of Rivers of Words, Mr. Thoreau Goes to Boston, and A Great Escape: Short Stories for Travelers will be releasing his newest e-book African Sarfari Bootcamp for Women in May, 2016. The jacket cover reads:

The lure of Africa and a chance to change their lives bring a group of professional women together from three continents for great white hunter Cassidy Magriff’s African Safari Bootcamp for Women. But a bruised lover and a Kenyan army officer have other plans for the band—to reap a profit and extract revenge.

Five women become stranded in the bush without food, water, or weapons. Mo, the safari’s geologist and a Kenyan—American who grew up with a Masai tribe, is saddled with the task of leading the troupe to safety.

Will they survive attacks by leopards and lions? Will they succumb to disease, starvation, and the forces of nature? Will the robbers stop them before they reach safety?

Follow these brave and talented women as they face challenges on an hourly basis. Be with them as they draw upon hidden talents and resources to fend off one attack after another and draw upon their “inner Amazon warriors”. Learn and laugh with them as they fortify themselves with mutual support, spiritual exercises, and discussions of feminine literature such as Jane Eyre. And most of all, witness the real Africa with its friendly loving people, harsh military, and magical environment.

Ken spent three months researching his book while traveling through Kenya. He visited the game reserves and small towns, met the people, and hike alone in the bush to get a feel for what his characters would experience being stranded in the wild. He says, “I never ran into a predator in the wilderness; however, one time a young man and his son who were herding goats and sheep came up to me and said, ‘This isn’t a safe area, elephants, rhinos, leopards could attack you at anytime.’” They walked him back to the closest village.

“Kenya is truly the promised land. Although the country is still poor, everyone has an opportunity to own a small farm or start a business. What is so amazing is that most people are incredibly spiritual. Ninety percent of them are Christian and their Gospel music is absolutely inspiring. Many church services begin Friday afternoon and don’t end until Saturday morning."
